Man held with 32.15-kg touchstone statue in Dinajpur

RANGPUR, Aug 12, 2026 (BSS) - A joint team of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-13 and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested a man with a touchstone Vishnu statue weighing 32.15 kilogram from Chatra Para village under Kotwali Police Station of Dinajpur district on Tuesday. 
 
The arrested is Md Parvez Mondal, 38, of the village under Kotwali Police Station of Dinajpur. 

Executive Magistrate (Assistant Commissioner, Land), of Dinajpur Sadar upazila led the drive, a press release signed by RAB-13's Senior Assistant Director (Media) Biplab Kumar Goswami said here this afternoon.
 
The recovered statue's length is 32.5 inches and width is 13.5 inches. The estimated value of the statue is about Taka 32.15 lakh. 
 
On a tip-off, a joint team from the RAB-13's Dinajpur Camp and Dinajpur 42 BGB battalion conducted a raid in the village, recovered the Vishnu idol and arrested the man from the spot at 2:30 am. 
 
 After filing a case under Section 25(b) of the Special Powers Act of 1974, the elite force handed over the arrested persons along with the seized touchstone statue to Kotwali police station of Dinajpur, the release added.
