RANGPUR, Aug 10, 2026 (BSS) - Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RpMP) arrested a man with 3,66,000 fake bidi bandrolls worth Taka 32,61,060 from the Chandkuti Satbazar Atharodon area under Haragachh police station of the metropolis today.
The arrestee is Md Hamidul Haque, son of late Jamshed Ali of the same village, said a press release issued by the Media Cell of RpMP here this evening.
On the directions of RpMP Commissioner Mohammad Abdul Mabud, a smart team of Haragachh police station in a raid arrested the man from his house and recovered these fake bidi bandrolls at 10:30 am.
The police initially suspect that an attempt was being made to deprive the government of its fair revenue by manufacturing and marketing bidis using these fake bandrolls evading the eyes of the law enforcement agencies.
The arrested man was handed over to Haragachh police station of RpMP after filing a case against him in this incident.
The operation of the RpMP will continue to protect government revenue, prevent counterfeit and illegal products, and suppress crime, the release added.
