CHATTOGRAM, Aug 10, 2026 (BSS) - Jorargonj Police Station has arrested seven people in connection with a robbery at an under construction factory in the Mirsarai Economic Zone. 

They were arrested following a 32-hour-long operation. Based on information provided by the arrestees, police recovered around 250 metres of electric cable later that had been looted during the robbery.

Chattogram district police disclosed this information this afternoon.

The arrested persons are— Mehedi Hasan (23), Md. Rakib (21), Sujaul Haque alias Suja Ullah (24), Emdadul Haque alias Emran (28), Mizan Uddin (32), Md. Sakhawat Hossain alias Nahid (24) and Yousuf (26).

Police said that between 2:00am and 2:45am on August 8, a gang of 10-15 armed robbers entered the under-construction factory of Bangladesh Auto Industries Limited in the Mirsarai Economic Zone, under Jorargonj Police Station. They intimidated the security guards and looted three mobile phones, around 250 metres of electric cable and other valuable items. 

A case was filed with Jorargonj Police Station following the incident.

Sub-Inspector (SI) Abdullah Al Masud of Jorargonj Police Station said that during the 32-hour-long operation, seven members of the robbery gang were arrested from the Economic Zone area. Based on the information they provided, around 250 metres of the looted electric cable was recovered around 4:45am today.
