TANGAIL, Aug 10, 2026 (BSS) - The Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection has fined two clinics a total of Taka 40,000 during a drive in Sakhipur upazila of the district.

The drive was conducted on Monday afternoon by Asaduzzaman Rumel, assistant director of the Tangail District Office of the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection.

According to Rumel, the team found several irregularities at different clinics in Sakhipur.

Nidhi Diagnostic Centre Clinic was fined Taka 25,000 for storing raw fish in a refrigerator inside its pathology laboratory. The clinic was also temporarily shut down following the inspection.

Meanwhile, Green Life Clinic was fined Taka 15,000 for keeping expired medicines.

Rumel said such drives would continue to ensure compliance with health and consumer protection regulations.

Sakhipur Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr Rehana Parvin, officials of the Tangail District Office of the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection, members of law enforcement agencies and journalists from print and electronic media were present during the drive.
