RAJSHAHI, Aug 7, 2026 (BSS) - A mobile court has fined a sweet shop Tk 20,000 for producing and selling sweets without obtaining the mandatory Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) quality certificate.

The drive, conducted on Thursday by the BSTI Divisional Office in Rajshahi, found that Arafat Mishti, located near Bhadra More, was producing and selling sweetmeats without BSTI certification and manufacturing fermented milk (doi) and ghee with expired BSTI approval.

The shop was also found guilty of selling products without labels carrying mandatory information, including the dates of manufacture and expiry.

The mobile court was led by Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate Nurul Absar Sabuj, while Engineer Junaid Ahmed, an officer of the Certification Marks Wing of the BSTI Divisional Office, prosecuted the case.

Members of the Rajshahi Metropolitan Police assisted the drive.

BSTI said such drives will continue regularly to curb food adulteration and ensure the supply of quality food products.
