BOGURA, Aug 7, 2026 (BSS) - At least six people were killed and 10 others injured after a passenger bus lost control and ran over labourers waiting for work in Bogura this morning.

The accident occurred in the Erulia Silkibanda area on the Bogura-Naogaon highway.

Bogura Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ibrahim Ali confirmed it saying all the victims were labourers and local residents. 

Their identities could not be confirmed immediately.

Police said a Shah Fateh Ali Paribahan bus travelling to Naogaon from Dhaka lost control after reaching the Erulia Silkibanda area of the highway around 6:30 am and crashed into an electric pole beside the road. 

The bus then ran over a group of labourers who had gathered there in search of work. 

Three people were killed on the spot and several others were injured.

With assistance from local residents, police rescued the injured and took them to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital in Bogura, where doctors declared three more people dead.
