RAJSHAHI, Aug 7, 2026 (BSS) - Prime Minister's Environment, Forest and Climate Change Affairs Special Assistant Dr Md Saimum Parvez has exchanged views with officials of the Bangladesh Sericulture Development Board (BSDB) and experts from the consultancy firm working on the silk factory modernization project.

This exchange meeting was held on Thursday afternoon at the Rajshahi Silk Factory as part of the feasibility study project titled "Modernization of Silk Factory and Creation of Cluster-based Entrepreneurs".
 
Speaking as the chief guest, Dr Md Saimum Parvez said the past glory of the silk industry must be restored. For this, all concerned, including the BSDB, must work together. He expressed hope that this industry will move forward with the concerted efforts of all.

Before the meeting, Dr Md Saimum Parvez visited the Rajshahi Silk Factory. BSDB Director General Toufiq Al Mahmud briefed the Special Assistant about the silk factory's activities, research and extension activities, initiatives taken for the development of the silk industry in Bangladesh, and the current condition of the silk factory.

The special assistant also toured the Rajshahi Silk Factory showroom and observed firsthand the quality of traditional Rajshahi silk products, including Garad sarees, designer sarees, printed sarees, two-pieces, Punjabi fabrics, Balaka silk and various other fabrics.

At that time, BSDB Director Dr M A Mannan, Deputy Secretary of Planning-2 Branch of the Ministry of Textiles and Jute and Project Director Mukhlesur Rahman, Director (Administration) Nasima Khatun, Director Reza Hasan, the expert team of the consultancy firm and officials of the board were present.
