NARAIL, Aug 6, 2026 (BSS) - A housewife and mother of three children was electrocuted in Jokarchar village under Kalia upazila of the district this morning.

The deceased was identified as Fatema Khanam, 30, daughter of Khalil Mollah of Jokarchar village.

According to family members, the tin roof of the family's house became electrically charged due to a short circuit. Fatema came into contact with the electrified tin and suffered a severe electric shock.

She was rushed to Kalia Upazila Health Complex in critical condition where the attending physician declared her dead.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) Idris Ali of Kalia Police Station confirmed the matter and said Fatema's body was handed over to her family after the completion of the necessary legal formalities.
