CHAPAINAWABGANJ, Aug 6, 2026 (BSS) - A tractor driver was killed after a train hit his power tiller trolley at a railway crossing in Nachole upazila of the district this morning.

The deceased was identified as Abul Kalam Azad, 35, son of Md. Mohibur Rahman, a resident of Bandora village in the upazila.

Police and local sources said Azad was returning home from Deopara area with a goat on his power tiller trolley when the Khulna-bound Mahananda train, which had left Rohanpur, struck the vehicle as he was crossing the Deopara railway crossing line.

Azad was thrown off the trolley in the impact and died on the spot.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Nachole Police Station Sukomal Chandra Debnath confirmed the incident to BSS, saying the body had been recovered and would be handed over to the family after completion of legal formalities.
