BAGERHAT, Aug 5, 2026 (BSS) - Community Development Centre (CODEC), a non-governmental development organisation, today distributed free wheelchairs to seven people with disabilities in Bagerhat to improve their mobility and quality of life.

The distribution ceremony was held at the Bagerhat Zilla Parishad auditorium premises, where Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Golam Md Baten inaugurated the programme as the chief guest.

Among those present were Superintendent of Police Hasan Mohammad Nasher Rikabdar, Civil Surgeon Dr A S Md Mahbubul Alam, Deputy Director of Social Services Santosh Kumar Nath, upazila social service officers, physicians from the Upazila Disability Service and Support Centre, local dignitaries and CODEC official Syed Mahbubur Rahman Sujan.

Speaking at the event, Golam Md Baten said people with disabilities are an integral part of society and, if given the necessary support and opportunities, can make valuable contributions to the country's development.

The other speakers praised CODEC's initiative and urged individuals and organisations to extend similar support to underprivileged people with disabilities.
