KHULNA, Aug 3, 2026 (BSS) - Khulna City Corporation (KCC) has undertaken a series of programmes to observe "July Mass Uprising Day-2026" on August 5.
As part of the programmes, a drawing competition for primary school students and an essay competition for secondary school students will be held at the Nagar Bhaban at 9 am.
At 9:30 am, officials will visit the grave of July movement martyr Sakib Raihan at Bosupara Graveyard to pay their respects.
Tributes will be placed at the July Martyrs' Memorial at Shibbari intersection at 10 am, followed by a discussion meeting at 10:30 am.
Prizes will be distributed among the winners of the drawing and essay competitions at 11:30 am.
KCC Administrator Nazrul Islam Manju will attend the programme as the chief guest and distribute prizes among the winning students.
The city corporation will also decorate major intersections with paper national flags and display banners and festoons featuring rare and documentary photographs highlighting the July movement.
According to the organisers, students from Play to Nursery will compete in Category 'A', Classes I-II in Category 'B', and Classes III-V in Category 'C' of the drawing competition.
The theme for Category 'A' will be open, while Categories 'B' and 'C' will focus on the "July Martyrs' Memorial" and "Scenes from the July Movement" respectively.
For the essay competition, students of Classes VI-VIII will compete in Category 'D' on the topic "August 5 and the July Revolution" while students of Classes IX-X will participate in Category 'E' on "The Victory of Students and the People and a Mass Uprising".
