NARAIL, Aug 3, 2026 (BSS) - A teenage boy died after being electrocuted in Benda village under Kalia upazila of the district this morning.

The deceased was identified as Mohammad Tanvir, 15, an eighth-grade student and son of Azgar Ali of Benda village.

According to family members and local sources, Tanvir used to help his father at his tea stall during his free time alongside his studies. Around 8.00 am, he was preparing tea using an electric kettle to heat water at the shop when he accidentally came into contact with the appliance and suffered an electric shock.

Family members rushed him to the Kalia Upazila Health Complex in critical condition where the attending physician declared him dead.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kalia Police Station Idris Ali confirmed the matter and said the body was handed over to the victim's family after completion of the necessary legal formalities.
