RAJSHAHI, Aug 2, 2026 (BSS)- A tree plantation program was inaugurated on the initiative of Boalia Thana (East) BNP under Rajshahi Metropolitan City and its  all affiliated and associate organizations.

They launched the programme as part of implementing the 25 crore tree plantation program in 5 years announced by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. 
 
The  tree plantation program was inaugurated by Mahfuzur Rahman Riton, Administrator of Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) and General Secretary of Rajshahi Metropolitan BNP, as the chief guest at an event organized in the Shaheed Minar area of Ward Number  25 of the city.
 
Advocate Ershad Ali Isha, Administrator of Rajshahi Zila Parishad, was present as special guest at the event.
 
Meanwhile, tree plantation and distribution of saplings among students were held at Shiroil Colony High School in the city.

At an event organized on the school premises this noon, RCC Administrator Mahfuzur Rahman Riton was present as the chief guest.

He distributed saplings of various species of fruit, forest and medicinal trees among the students. Later, the Administrator planted trees on the school premises along with other guests.
 
In his speech he said a tree not only provides oxygen, it ensures a safe environment for our future generations.

Therefore, every citizen must take responsibility for planting and caring for at least one tree. Collective efforts of all are needed to build Rajshahi as a greener, cleaner and more liveable city.
 
The event was presided over by Alhaj Md. Shahjahan Ali, President of the Managing Committee of Shiroil Colony High School. Teachers, students, parents, well-wishers and local dignitaries were present.
