BOGURA, Aug 26, 2026 (BSS) - A motorcyclist was killed after being run over by a truck on the Bogura-Naogaon regional highway, west of Bibir Pukur Bazar, in Kahalu upazila of the district.

The deceased was identified as Rifat, 22, son of Abdul Majid of Shilakowr Dakshinpara village under Narhatta Union of Kahalu upazila. 

He worked as a salesperson for a company in neighboring Dupchanchia upazila.

Kahalu Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Sekendar Ali said Rifat was travelling by motorcycle toward Dupchanchia. 

When he reached the area west of Bibir Pukur Bazar in the afternoon, a goods-laden truck travelling from the opposite direction toward Bogura ran over him, killing him on the spot, the SI said.

Ali said local people detained the truck following the accident. After being informed, police went to the scene, recovered Rifat's body and took it to the police station. 

Legal action is being taken in connection with the incident, he added.
