THAKURGAON, July 30, 2026 (BSS) - A total of Tk 11.20 lakh in financial grants was distributed among 14 entrepreneurs in Thakurgaon under the Sustainable Small Enterprises and Eco-Friendly Transformation Project.
The grants were handed over at a programme organized by the Eco-Social Development Organization (ESDO) at its head office in the district town on Thursday.
The financial assistance will be used to purchase solar-powered irrigation systems and hammer machines to promote environmentally friendly technologies in rice production and processing.
ESDO Director (Administration) Principal Dr Selima Akhtar attended the programme as the chief guest and distributed the grant cheques among the beneficiaries.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Akhtar said the project is helping expand the use of eco-friendly technologies in the rice sector, enabling entrepreneurs to become more self-reliant while contributing to rural economic transformation and green growth.
ESDO Managing Director Shashwat Zaman, senior officials of the organization and entrepreneurs from the local rice mill sector were present.
The organizers said such initiatives would continue to support the adoption of environmentally friendly technologies, strengthen entrepreneurs' capacities and promote sustainable agriculture and food processing systems.
