TANGAIL, July 28, 2026 (BSS) - A mobile court in Madhupur upazila of the district has fined three business establishments a total of Taka 1,60,000 for violating laws related to weights and measure standards and consumer rights protection.

The mobile court was conducted on Tuesday afternoon in the Laufula and Kaitkai areas of the upazila, led by Madhupur Assistant Commissioner (Land) Naim Uddin.

According to Naim Uddin, Salam Auto Rice Mill in Kaitkai was fined Taka 100,000 for violating provisions under the Weights and Measures Standards Act, 2018.

In addition, Arif Bread and Biscuit Factory and Manik Bakery, both located in the Laufula area, were fined Taka 20,000 and Taka 40,000 respectively for producing food items in unhygienic conditions, violating the Consumer Rights Protection Act, 2009.

The total fine of Taka 1,60,000 has been deposited in the government treasury.

The assistant commissioner said such drives would continue to protect public interest and ensure compliance with relevant laws.
