BGB seizes smuggled goods worth about  Tk 32 lakh in Kurigram

KURIGRAM , July 25, 2026 (BSS) - Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized a variety of smuggled goods worth nearly Taka 32 lakh during separate operations conducted in the district over the past 24 hours.

According to a press release issued by the Kurigram Battalion (22 BGB) on Saturday, the seized items included Indian cosmetics, cumin seeds, illegal current fishing nets and livestock. The total estimated value of the confiscated goods is Taka 31,90,750.

The BGB said the operations were carried out in different border areas under the battalion's jurisdiction as part of its ongoing efforts to curb cross-border smuggling, prevent illegal infiltration, and safeguard the country's sovereignty.

The statement added that personnel of the Kurigram Battalion remain committed to implementing the BGB's "zero tolerance" policy against smuggling and continue to perform their duties with the highest level of vigilance and professionalism.

Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Mahbub-ul-Haq, Commanding Officer of the BGB-22 Battalion, said the force would continue its anti-smuggling operations to prevent illegal activities along the border and ensure border security.
