3 villages to become ‘SDG Villages’

RANGAMATI, July 24, 2026 (BSS) -  Three villages in the country are being developed as 'SDG Villages' including Mitingachhari village in Chandraghona Union under Kaptai Upazila of the district. 

The other two are Pankhali in Dakop Upazila of Khulna and Nofangar in Bochaganj Upazila of Dinajpur.

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will inaugurate Mitingachhari village as an 'SDG Village' on August 10. On the same day, he will virtually inaugurate the two other villages.

Visiting Mitingachhari village this morning ahead of the inauguration ceremony, Kaptai Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Rayhanul Islam said in light of the implementation of the 17 SDG targets, special emphasis will be given in Mitingachhari village to poverty alleviation, waterlogging prevention, ensuring quality education, improving healthcare services, reducing child and maternal mortality rates, expanding access to clean water and sanitation facilities, women's empowerment, use of renewable energy, environmental conservation and tree plantation, agricultural and livelihood development and expansion of digital services and technology.

During the visit to Mitingachhari village, Upazila Assistant Information Officer Md. Delwar Hossain, Upazila BNP General Secretary Yasin Mamun, Headman of Ward No. 100 Arun Talukdar, along with local dignitaries, were present.
