Two prime accused held over murder of mentally disabled man in Narail

KHULNA, July 4, 2026 (BSS) - Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-6 have arrested the two prime accused in the sensational murder case of a mentally disabled man in Narail during separate drives in Jashore and Faridpur, said a RAB press release.

The arrestees were identified as Prosenjit, 25, and Apurba, 24, both residents of Uttar Khalishakhali village in Narail.

According to the press release, the victim, Anwar Hossain, 32, who was mentally disabled, was allegedly tied to a tree and brutally beaten by the accused in front of Prosenjit's house around 3am on June 25 after being falsely accused of theft.

Locals rescued the critically injured Anwar and took him to Narail Sadar Hospital. He was later shifted to Khulna Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment, where he succumbed to his injuries on July 2.

Following the incident, the victim's brother, Golam Nabi Hossain, filed a murder case with Narail Sadar Police Station.

Acting on confidential information, a RAB-6 team from the Jashore Camp arrested Apurba from the Mishri Deyara area of Jhikargachha on the evening of July 3.

Later the same night, at around 10 pm, another RAB-6 team from the Bhatiapara Camp arrested the prime accused, Prosenjit, from the Joypasha area under Boalmari Police Station in Faridpur.

The arrested accused were handed over to Narail Sadar Police Station for legal action.

RAB said its drives would continue to bring fugitives and those involved in sensational murders and other serious crimes to justice.
