New technologies, agri methods stressed for sustainable food security

GAIBANDHA, June 29, 2026 (BSS) - Speakers at a function here today underscored the need for developing new technologies and agricultural methods and popularizing them among farmers to boost crop production and ensure sustainable food security in the country.

They said farmers should be familiarized with new agricultural technologies and methods so that they can increase crop production by applying those techniques. In this regard, enthusiastic farmers should be brought under training programmes to enhance their skills in using the technologies and methods.

They made the remarks while addressing a partner congress at the auditorium of Gobindaganj Upazila Parishad in the district this afternoon.

The Upazila Agriculture Office organised the function under the ‘Agricultural and Rural Transformation for Nutrition, Entrepreneurship and Resilience (PARTNER) Project in Bangladesh’, being implemented by the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE).

Deputy Director of the DAE here Atiqul Islam addressed the function as the chief guest, while Senior Monitoring Officer of the project’s Rangpur region Ashok Kumar Roy spoke as the special guest.

Presided over by Upazila Agriculture Officer Mehedi Hasan, the function was also addressed, among others, by District Training Officer of the DAE Md Asaduzzaman and Upazila Agriculture Extension Officer Hadisur Rahman.

The speakers highlighted the importance of modern technology, research and innovation in increasing safe food production and improving the quality of life of farmers.

Hundreds of farmers, journalists and local dignitaries participated in the congress.
