RANGPUR, June 29, 2026 (BSS) - The Detective Branch (DB) of Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RpMP) arrested Masud Rana Titu @ Titu Malkeru, 46, one of the top-ranking suppliers of Yaba in Rangpur city, on Sunday night.
Under the direction of RpMP Police Commissioner Mohammad Abdul Mabud and under the supervision of DC DB Sanatan Chakraborty, a smart team of DB led by SI Pranoy Krishna Mondal arrested Titu from the Munshipara area of the city at 11:30 pm.
During the raid, the DB police also seized 10 grams of heroin and 150 pieces of contraband Yaba tablets from his possession.
Widely known as the 'Yaba emperor' and one of the main suppliers of Yaba tablets in Rangpur city, arrested Titu is the son of Khalilur Rahman Khattu of the city's same area.
Talking to BSS this afternoon, Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Police (DB) Sanatan Chakraborty said that more than 12 drug cases have been found in the name of the arrested Titu in various police stations of Bangladesh.
Several arrest warrants are outstanding against him.
He has several pucca houses in the Honumantola and Bhogi Balapara areas of Rangpur city.
Initial interrogation revealed that Titu has become the owner of these houses and cars through drug dealing.
Arrested Titu used to bring Yaba and heroin from the border areas of the country and sell them wholesale in Rangpur city.
Many of the Yaba tablet retailers who were arrested in the previous raids by the RpMP's DB police from different areas of Rangpur city had mentioned Titu's name as a supplier of Yaba during interrogation.
"|Based on long-term efforts and intelligence information, we were finally able to arrest him on Sunday night," Sanatan Chakraborty said.
A case has been filed against him under the relevant law at Rangpur Metropolitan Kotwali police station.
Later, police produced Titu before a Rangpur court this afternoon.
