5,900 farmers receive free seeds, fertilisers in Gobindaganj

GAIBANDHA, June 28, 2026 (BSS)– A total of 5,900 small and marginal farmers in Gobindaganj upazila of the district have received free seeds of various crops and chemical fertilisers under the government's Agricultural Incentive Programme.

The Upazila Agriculture Office distributed the agricultural inputs to encourage farmers to increase crop production. 

Marking the occasion, a function was held at the auditorium of the Upazila Parishad on Saturday, jointly organised by the Upazila Agriculture Office and the Upazila Administration.

Gaibandha-4 lawmaker Shameem Kaisar Lincon attended the programme as the chief guest and distributed the seeds and fertilisers among the beneficiary farmers. Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Syeda Yasmin Sultana was present as the special guest.

Speaking on the occasion, the lawmaker described the present government as farmer-friendly, saying it has undertaken various initiatives to improve the livelihoods of farmers and increase agricultural production to help keep food prices at a tolerable level.

He urged the farmers to make proper use of the seeds and fertilisers to achieve the government's agricultural production targets. 

The programme, moderated by Upazila Agriculture Officer Mehedi Hasan, was also addressed by Assistant Commissioner (Land) Tamsid Iram Khan and General Secretary of Gobindaganj Upazila BNP Robiul Islam Monu.

Replying to a query, Mehedi Hasan said each farmer received 10 kg each of DAP (Di-Ammonium Phosphate) and MOP (Muriate of Potash) fertilisers to support crop cultivation under the programme.
