THAKURGAON, June 28, 2026 (BSS) – Md Lutfar Rahman Mithu and Md Tanvir Hasan Tanu have been elected president and general secretary, respectively, of the Thakurgaon Press Club for the next two years.
Mithu, the district representative of NTV, was elected president through a vote, while Tanu, the staff reporter of Ekattor Television, was elected general secretary unopposed.
The biennial election followed the club's general meeting held at its modern auditorium on Saturday morning, with acting president Md Lutfar Rahman Mithu in the chair. The meeting approved the annual income and expenditure accounts alongside the proposed budget for the upcoming fiscal year.
Members also discussed potential constitutional amendments and agreed to convene another general meeting soon to finalise the changes.
Voting took place in the afternoon for four positions out of the 11-member executive committee, while candidates for the remaining seven posts were elected uncontested.
Among other office-bearers, Abdul Latif (UNB) was elected vice-president, Al Farabi Hasan Nabin (DBC Television) joint general secretary, and Md Shamsujjuha (Independent Television) sports secretary.
Those elected unopposed include Md Ahsan Habib Bulbul (Amar Sangbad) as finance secretary, Golam Sarwar Samrat (Ajkaler Khabor) as literature, culture and publication secretary, and Asaduzzaman Shamim (Bhorer Darpan) as office secretary.
The elected executive members are Md Mansur Ali (Dainik Karatoya), SM Jasim Uddin (Ekushey Television), and Firoz Zamin Sarkar (ATN Bangla).
