KHULNA, June 26, 2026 (BSS) - State Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Shaikh Faridul Islam today called on the Lions Club to expand its services by strengthening maternal and child healthcare, autism rehabilitation and eye care programmes.
Speaking as the chief guest at the inauguration of a new operation theatre at Khulna Lions Eye Hospital, the minister praised the international service organisation for its longstanding contribution to public welfare.
"The Lions Club can play a greater role by enhancing maternal and child healthcare services and autism rehabilitation programmes alongside its eye care initiatives," he said.
Faridul Islam said the Lions Club has set a commendable example in serving people and stressed that dedication, sincerity, and honesty are essential for delivering quality services. "If quality services are ensured, there will never be a shortage of beneficiaries," he added.
The state minister also assured the organisation of the government's support in implementing humanitarian and public welfare programmes.
Khulna City Corporation Administrator Nazrul Islam Monju attended the programme as the special guest. Khulna Development Authority (KDA) Chairman Advocate Shafiqul Alam Mona, Lions leaders AKM Golam Faruque and Sabina Siddiqua and Dr M Borhan Uddin also spoke on the occasion.
The programme was chaired by senior Lions member Dr Ranjit Kumar Nath, while Dr Monoj Kumar Das delivered the welcome address.
