LAKSHMIPUR, June 26, 2026 (BSS) - A murder case has been filed with Raipur Police Station against several unidentified persons over the hacking to death of a mother and her three daughters in Raipur Upazila here.
Shifat Hossain, son of the deceased Shahinur Begum, filed the case this afternoon as the plaintiff.
In the complaint, the plaintiff alleged a man named Antar Majumdar as the killer and also accused several unidentified persons of the murder, Shaheen
Mia, officer-in-charge (OC) of Raipur Police Station, confirmed the matter to BSS.
He said the motive behind the killings has not yet been established and efforts are underway to uncover the mystery surrounding the incident.
"The bodies have been handed over to the victims' family following autopsies," he said, adding that the investigations are underway.
According to the case details, on Thursday morning, a young man named Antar Majumdar entered the house of Amir Hossain Master at Dhanhata in Raipur
municipality and indiscriminately hacked Shahinur Begum and her daughters-- Sayma Akter, Ikra Akter and Shifa Akter.
Shahinur Begum, 40, and her eldest daughter, college student Sayma Akter, 18, died on the spot.
Shifa Akter, 9, later died after being taken to Raipur Upazila Health Complex.
Another daughter Ikra Akter, who had sustained critical injuries, died on the way to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH).
Local people caught Antar Majumdar on the spot and beat him. Later, police rescued and took him to Sadar Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
He was the son of Kartik Majumdar of Subarnachar in Noakhali and worked as a mobile fruit vendor in Raipur.
