MADARIPUR, June 26, 2026 (BSS)- Construction work of a bridge on Kumar River at Madaripur has been inaugurated today.
Member of the Parliament from Madaripur-2 constituency Jahandar Ali Miah inaugurated the construction work this morning.
According to local residents, the construction of this bridge will end the long-standing communication sufferings of the people of at least five villages and bring a new momentum to the local communication system.
Speaking on the occasion, Jahandar Ali said construction of this bridge is a part of the continuation of the government's pre-election commitment. The government is working tirelessly to improve the quality of life of the people alongside repairing the state, he added.
He said once the bridge is constructed, people of Tarmuguria, Lakshmipur, New Madaripur, and Charmuguria will be benefitted. It will also cast a positive impact on agricultural goods transportation, education, healthcare, and trade and commerce.
The MP further said that the government maintains a 'zero-tolerance' stance against human trafficking, terrorism, extortion, juvenile gangs, and drugs. People from all walks of life must step forward consciously to prevent these crimes, he added.
The 195-meter-long and 75-meter steel arch PSC girder bridge is being constructed at a cost of Taka 38.26 crore. The project work is scheduled to be completed by September 15, 2027.
