MADARIPUR, June 25, 2026 (BSS) - A total of 1,75,394 children aged between 6 and 59 months will be administered Vitamin 'A' capsules in the district on June 28 under the National Vitamin 'A' Plus Campaign.
Madaripur Civil Surgeon Dr. Mohammad Shariful Abedin Komol said at a press briefing held at the conference room of the Civil Surgeon’s office today.
Nearly 3,000 volunteers will conduct the campaign through 1,488 centers across four upazilas and two municipalities (Madaripur and Shibchar) in the district.
Among the target groups, 22,579 infants aged 6 to 11 months will be given blue-colored capsules, while 1,52,815 children aged 12 to 59 months will receive red-colored capsules.
Speaking on the occasion, the Civil Surgeon said, "Vitamin 'A' capsules do not just prevent night blindness in children; they also boost their immune system, help maintain good eyesight, and play a vital role in reducing child mortality rates."
Moderated by Medical Officer of the Civil Surgeon's office Dr. Kaniz Farhana, the briefing was attended by Deputy Director of the Family Planning Department Motiur Rahman, Assistant Superintendent of Police (Ops) Bimal Chandra Barman, Residential Medical Officer Dr. Akhil Sarkar, and Sadar Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Ikramul Hossain, along with journalists.
