Fruit fair kicks off in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, June 25, 2026 (BSS) – Aiming to promote safe and export-quality mango production, expand modern cultivation practices, and encourage farmers in fruit production, a fruit and mango fair began at the Deputy Director’s Office of the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) at Khamarbari in the city today.

The DAE organised the fair, which was inaugurated by Rajshahi Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kazi Shahidul Islam, who attended the event as the chief guest.

On the occasion, a discussion was held with DAE Deputy Director Nasir Uddin in the chair.
Speaking at the discussion, DC Kazi Shahidul Islam said mangoes from Rajshahi, known as the “mango capital”, have earned widespread recognition both at home and abroad.

He added that such events will play an important role in increasing domestic fruit production, ensuring nutritional security, and creating new agricultural entrepreneurs. The fair will also provide farmers with opportunities to learn about new technologies and market management.

Speakers said expanding fruit cultivation can increase farmers’ income and make a significant contribution to the national economy.

To achieve this goal, the DAE is implementing various programmes.

Officials and employees of the agriculture department, farmers, mango growers, entrepreneurs, and people from different professions participated in the inaugural ceremony.

Alongside attractive displays of various mango varieties and seasonal fruits, the fair is also showcasing modern agricultural technologies.

In addition, farmers are being provided with information, advisory services, and various other forms of support at the fair venue.
