RAJSHAHI, June 25, 2026 (BSS)- World Environment Day was observed at Rajshahi University (RU) here today through various programmes.
 
This year's theme is 'Climate Change: Today's Actions, Tomorrow's Security".
 
To mark the day, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Professor Md. Abdul Alim and Pro-VC (Education) Prof Mamunur Rashid planted trees on the premises of the Institute of Environmental Science (IES) at 10 am. 

Later, a colorful rally circled the campus. The rally was attended by the Pro-Vice-Chancellors, IES Director Prof Md. Golam Mostafa, along with teachers, researchers, students, and others from the institute and related departments.
 
At 10:50 am, a seminar was held at the Engineering Faculty Gallery. Pro-VC (Education) Prof Mamunur Rashid attended the event as special guest while Prof Md. Habibur Rahman from the Department of Zoology presented the keynote paper. 

The seminar was presided over by the IES Director Prof Md. Golam Mostafa. Prof Zakia Yasmin delivered the welcome address and Prof Md. Abul Kalam Azad and Prof S M Shafiuzzaman discussed the presented paper.
 
Among others, Proctor Prof Md. Mahbubur Rahman, and teachers, researchers, and students from IES and related departments were present at the seminar.
