Drugs, smuggled goods worth Tk 34 lakh seized in Kushtia

KUSHTIA, June 24, 2026 (BSS) - Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has recovered a large consignment of drugs and smuggled goods from three separate locations along the Kushtia border, with an estimated total value of Taka 3,431,800.

The information was confirmed on Wednesday (June 24) in a press release by Lieutenant Colonel Rashed Kamal Rony, commander of Kushtia BGB-47 Battalion.

BGB team conducted a drive in Sheoratola Refugee Para field under the jurisdiction of Kajipur Border Outpost (BOP) on Tuesday and seized 3 kilograms of Indian cannabis (ganja), a mobile phone, and a SIM card, all abandoned. Sensing the presence of BGB personnel, an unidentified individual fled the scene.

In a separate operation later the same day around 9.40 pm, BGB personnel seized 340 pieces of android mobile touch displays from an abandoned condition in Chulkani Ghat area under Pragpur BOP.

Earlier on Wednesday morning around 9.35 am, another raid was conducted in the Garura Ghatpara Eidgah area under Pragpur BOP, where 50 bottles of Indian Phensedyl cough syrup were recovered.

BGB officials said that the total estimated value of the seized drugs and smuggled goods stands at Taka 3,431,800.

The press release further added that BGB remains committed to ensuring border security and preventing drug trafficking, explosives, and all forms of smuggling. The force vowed to continue strict and effective operations to curb illegal activities along the border in the future.
