MANIKGANJ, July 23, 2026 (BSS) - The District Health Department has shut down two private hospitals and a diagnostic centre in Manikganj over widespread irregularities and poor management.

A special inspection drive, led by Civil Surgeon Dr Ivi Ferdous was carried out at several private hospitals and diagnostic centres in the district to improve healthcare standards and ensure compliance with health regulations on Wednesday.

During the drive, officials uncovered serious irregularities and operational deficiencies at a number of facilities.

The inspection found that two private hospitals had been operating for a long period without renewing their licences. The facilities also lacked mandatory infrastructure, including separate rooms for patients' attendants.

The authorities ordered the closure of Al Rafi Hospital, Jamuna General Hospital and Modern Diagnostic Center following the inspection.

Civil Surgeon Dr Ivi Ferdous said such enforcement drives would continue in the public interest to ensure quality healthcare services and strict compliance with health regulations.
