CHANDPUR, June 23, 2026 (BSS) - A total of 366,881 children in the district will receive Vitamin A Plus capsules as part of the National Vitamin A Plus Campaign scheduled to be held across Bangladesh on June 28.
The information was disclosed by Civil Surgeon Dr. Mohammad Nur Alam Din during a press briefing held at the Chandpur Press Club auditorium on Tuesday afternoon.
Speaking at the briefing, Dr. Din emphasized the importance of Vitamin A in preventing childhood blindness caused by malnutrition, supporting physical growth and development, strengthening immunity, reducing mortality risks, and preventing night blindness.
Under the campaign, children aged between 6 and 11 months will receive blue Vitamin A capsules, while children aged 12 to 59 months will be given red Vitamin A capsules. He also stressed the importance of introducing adequate homemade nutritious food alongside breast milk once a child reaches six months of age.
According to the Civil Surgeon, among the targeted beneficiaries, 42,008 children aged 6 to 11 months and 324,873 children aged 12 to 59 months across Chandpur's eight upazilas and two municipalities will receive the capsules.
The campaign will be conducted uninterruptedly from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm through 2,332 vaccination centers across the district.
Although the initiative is being implemented by the Health Services and Family Welfare Division, Dr. Din called for the cooperation of other ministries, the media, and all stakeholders to ensure the campaign's success and achieve full coverage.
