Anti-corruption debate competition held in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, June 23, 2026 (BSS) - An anti-corruption debate competition was held today at the Paba Upazila Parishad Auditorium in Rajshahi with participation of students from different educational institutions.

The event was jointly organized by the Integrated District Office of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), Rajshahi, and the Paba Upazila Corruption Prevention Committee with cooperation from the Paba Upazila Administration and the Upazila Secondary Education Office.

A total of 24 students from eight educational institutions of the upazila took part in the competition.

The participants debated various issues relating to corruption, including its causes, impacts and prevention, highlighting the importance of moral values, public awareness and effective implementation of laws in building a corruption-free society.

Speaking at the prize-giving ceremony, chief guest Paba Upazila Nirbahi Officer Ibnul Abedin said honesty, morality and public awareness are the most effective tools in preventing corruption.

He stressed the need to develop an anti-corruption mindset from an early age and said a corruption-free society can be built through the combined efforts of families, educational institutions, the administration and the public.

Paba Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Mehedi Hasan, Assistant Director of the ACC Integrated District Office Tanvir Ahmed Siddique and Upazila Secondary Education Officer Mahmud Hasan were present as special guests.

The event was presided over by President of the Paba Upazila Corruption Prevention Committee Md Akhtar Faruk.

The judges included Upazila Youth Development Officer Johurul Islam, BRDB Officer Shamsunnahar, Academic Supervisor Ayesha Nazneen and Assistant Programmer Ismotara Khatun.

Bashirabad Dawatul Islam Fazil Madrasa emerged champion in the competition, while Nawhata Girls' High School became runner-up.
