CHATTOGRAM, June 21, 2026 (BSS): Chattogram Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mohammad Zahidul Islam Miah today said that the main responsibility of a government official is not only improving one's own standard of living, but also contributing to the change of the state and society. 
 
He said these while speaking as the chief guest at the inauguration of a three-day 'Office and Financial Management Training Course' organized for administrative officers and accounting assistant cum computer operators of Union Parishads at city’s  Primary Teachers Training Institute.  

A total of 160 officers of various Union Parishads of the district participated in the training organized by the National Institute of Local Government (NILG) and implemented by the District Administration, Chattogram. 

 The Deputy Commissioner said that people want change, want a developed society, but many are reluctant to change their thoughts and perspectives. 

“We need to come out of this mentality. He also said that government service is not just a matter of position or benefits; it is a responsibility and commitment to the people. 

The most important question is what was given to the state with the people's tax ,” he added. 

 The Deputy Commissioner also warned the officials not to have any regrets at the end of their works. He said that people's expectations, service and satisfaction should be given priority while performing their duties.  

Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Md. Sharif Uddin presided over the program. Assistant Commissioner of District Administration SM Amirul Mostafa spoke as the coordinator of the training course.  

In addition, the concerned officials emphasized on improving the quality of training and services. 
The training is being provided on office management, financial management, account maintenance, audit procedures, PPR-PPA and use of information technology.
