JHENAIDAH, June 21, 2026 (BSS) - A truck driver was killed after being run 
over by a passenger bus in Shailkupa upazila of the district on Sunday 
morning.

The deceased was identified as Abbas Hossain, 40, a resident of the 
Churamankati area in Jashore district.

According to police and local residents, the accident occurred around 10 am 
near Borodah Bridge. Abbas had parked his truck by the roadside and was 
having tea at a nearby shop. While crossing the road after finishing his tea, 
he was struck by a bus traveling from Khulna to Kushtia.

He died on the spot.

Members of the Fire Service and Civil Defence recovered the body and sent it 
to the morgue of Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) Jahanur Ali of Arappur Highway Police Station 
confirmed the incident and said that efforts are underway to identify and 
trace the bus involved in the accident.
