6 members of question leaking fraud gang held in Rangpur 

RANGPUR, June 20, 2026 (BSS) - The Detective Branch (DB) of Rangpur 
Metropolitan Police (RpMP) have arrested six members of an organised fraud 
gang on charges of supplying proxy candidates and electronic devices in 
recruitment exams from the city.
 
The arrested are Tourat Akram, 27, son of Ferdous Alam of Kamal Kachna 
Chirarmil area, Badhan Mia, 37, son of Mobarak Ali of Satgara area and Saheb 
Ali, 26, son of the late Mujibur Rahman of Dhap Mohammadpur area of Rangpur 
city, Md Atiqur Rahman, 34, son of Imdadul Haque of Taluk Damodarpur village 
of Badarganj upazila of Rangpur and Ashraful Islam, 36, and Hafiz Al Mamun, 
20, sons of Riazul Islam of Telipara Mohalla of Parbatipur upazila of 
Dinajpur. 

The DB Police arrested them and recovered 15 blank non-judicial stamps, eight 
signed bank cheques of different banks, three NIDs and four original 
certificates and five smartphones from a house in the city's Dhap Jail Road 
area at about 1:30 am on Saturday. 
 
Under the direction of Rangpur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Mohammad 
Abdul Mabud and under the supervision of Deputy Police Commissioner (DB) 
Sanatan Chakraborty, the DB Police in a special operation arrested the fraud 
ring members.
 
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DB) of RpMP Sanatan Chakraborty informed this 
to local journalists at a press briefing held at his Central Road office this 
afternoon. 
 
Sanatan Chakraborty said this gang used to send proxy examinees instead of 
the main examinees in various government and non-government recruitment exams 
and provided answers in the exam hall through digital devices. 
 
In return, they used to extort huge amounts of money from the job aspirant 
examinees. 
 
Among the arrestees, there is a former primary school teacher who was 
arrested earlier on the same charge and served 52 days in jail. He is 
currently suspended. The rest are his associates.
 
"The recovered evidence and preliminary investigation have revealed the 
involvement of an organised fraud ring," said Sanatan Chakraborty.
 
Investigation is ongoing to identify other individuals and networks involved 
in this incident. 
 
The process of filing a case in this incident at Rangpur Metropolitan Kotwali 
Police Station was progressing till the filing of this report at 4:30 pm.
