KHULNA, June 15, 2026 (BSS) - Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Administrator Nazrul Islam Manju on Monday conducted field visits to several canals and
adjoining areas in the city to assess drainage conditions ahead of the upcoming monsoon season.
The inspection is part of an ongoing initiative to identify obstacles to water drainage in the metropolis and determine necessary measures to prevent
waterlogging during the rainy season. The administrator has been visiting canals, sluice gates and drainage facilities across the city in phases.
During the visit, Manju inspected the Narkelbaria Canal, Khetrakhali Canal and Matiakhali Canal in Ward No. 31, the Gora Canal in Ward No. 30, and
Sluice Gates No. 2 and 3 in Ward No. 22.
He directed the concerned officials to remove waste materials and water hyacinths from the canals on an urgent basis to ensure smooth water flow and
improve drainage capacity.
Among others, KCC Chief Executive Officer Rajib Ahmed, Executive Engineer Sheikh Md. Masud Karim, Chief Waste Management Officer Engineer Md. Anisur
Rahman, Ward No. 31 Officer-in-Charge Sheikh Shafiqul Hasan Didar, social workers Afsar Uddin Master, Aslam Hossain, Nazmul Hasan Nasim and Sakhawat
Hossain, as well as local dignitaries, were present during the inspection.
