CCC demolishes 200 illegal shops

CHATTOGRAM, June 14, 2026 (BSS)- The mobile court of the Chattogram City
Corporation (CCC) has removed approximately 200 illegal shops that were
established by occupying roads and footpaths in the Sagarika area of the
city.

The eviction operation took place from the Bir Shrestha Shaheed Flight
Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Cricket Stadium to the Bitak Bazar area along
Sagarika Road on Sunday [June 14].

According to CCC sources, around 200 shops that were illegally operating on
the roads and footpaths were dismantled during the drive, which was led by
Executive Magistrate Chaiti Sarvabidya.

As a result of this action, the illegal encroachments on the footpaths and
roads were removed, allowing pedestrians and vehicles to move freely and with
greater ease.

Officers and staff from the Pahartali Police Station of the Chattogram
Metropolitan Police (CMP), along with relevant departments of the Chattogram
City Corporation, participated in the operation.

The Executive Magistrate indicated that such initiatives will persist in the
future to keep the city's roads and sidewalks clear of encroachments and to
ensure the smooth movement of the public.
