KHULNA, June 13, 2026 (BSS) - Khulna Metropolitan BNP has welcomed the proposed national budget for the 2026-27 fiscal year, terming it a people-oriented, realistic and unique plan aimed at economic recovery.
In a joint statement, local BNP leaders congratulated Prime Minister Tarique Rahman for his leadership and Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury for presenting the budget.
They said the proposed budget would serve as a milestone in revitalising the country's fragile economy, helping curb inflation and creating new employment opportunities.
The leaders noted that the proposed reduction of advance tax and source tax on raw material imports for export-oriented industries, including the readymade garments sector and other productive industries, would further accelerate industrial growth.
They also appreciated the allocation under the "Farmer Card" programme and the proposal to introduce gratuity benefits for private-sector employees after retirement, describing these initiatives as evidence of a pro-people and social protection-focused approach.
Expressing hope that the budget would contribute to the overall development of the Khulna region, they said successful implementation of the people-friendly plan would strengthen the economic capacity of grassroots communities across the country, particularly in the southwestern region.
They further said the budget reflects a sincere effort to create an investment-friendly environment and reduce the tax burden on ordinary citizens.
The BNP leaders expressed optimism that the well-structured budget would help Bangladesh achieve its targeted GDP growth and place the macroeconomic situation on a stronger footing.
The joint statement was signed by BNP Student Affairs Secretary and Parliament Whip Rakibul Islam Bakul, BNP Information Secretary Azizul Bari Helal MP, Khulna Metropolitan BNP President Advocate Shafiqul Alam Mona, General Secretary and BCB Director Shafiqul Alam Tuhin, and other leaders of the party's metropolitan, thana and associate units.
