BAGERHAT, June 12, 2026 (BSS) - A grand opening and closing ceremony of “Startup Science Project and Innovation Idea Show” programme was held at the upazila level in Kachua, Bagerhat to inspire the young generation with science-minded and innovative thinking.
This exceptional fair, organized by a joint initiative of local educational institutions and science clubs in collaboration with the upazila administration, was officially inaugurated at the Kachua Upazila Parishad auditorium this morning and the closing ceremony was held in the afternoon.
Bagerhat-2 constituency MP Sheikh Manjurul Haque Rahat was present as the chief guest at the closing ceremony. Kachua Upazila Assistant Commissioner (land) and Upazila Executive Officer (Acting) Muhammad Asif Haider presided over the inaugural function.
Kachua Upazila Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Teacher Md. Rafiqul Islam, District Ulama Department President Principal Maulana Altaf Hossain, Member Secretary Md. Shahidul Islam, General Secretary of Kachua Press Club Ujjwal Kumar Das, Science Department Teacher Jamuna Goldar of Kachua Government Women's Degree College, Upazila Education Officer, Heads of various schools and colleges and local dignitaries were present as special guests in the function held with Upazila Academic Supervisor Mehedi Manna in the chair.
Speakers at the discussion meeting said that the present era is the era of information technology and talent. The country should be taken forward by utilizing the innovative power of the youth, they said, adding that this type of "Startup Science Project and Innovation Idea Show" will play a unique role in developing the hidden talent among students and creating new entrepreneurs (startups).
Students from various secondary schools and colleges of the upazila displayed their excellent science projects and creative business or innovation ideas at the fair. Notable among the projects displayed were:
Smart Agriculture and Irrigation System: A project to take care of crops through automated technology.
Environmentally Friendly Waste Management: Innovative ways to recycle plastic and waste.
Smart City and Traffic Control: A modern model to avoid traffic jams and accidents in the city.
In the last phase of the programme, the winning teams and the students who gave the best ideas were awarded with mementos and certificates.
