GAIBANDHA, June 09, 2026 (BSS) - A youth was crushed to death after falling from a running train at the 2nd rail gate area of the town here on Monday night. 
    
The victim was identified as Shihabul Islam, 23, son of Abu Bakar Siddique, from Shitalpur village in Pirganj upazila under Rangpur district. 

Police said Shihabul was travelling in the Gaibandha-bound local train 'Padmarag' by holding the handles of a door. When the train reached the area, he fell onto the rail track, resulting in the train running over him, leaving him dead on the spot. 

Being informed, the police led by the officer in charge (OC) of Bonarpara Govt. railway Thana Mamun Hasan went to the spot and recovered the body of the victim.

Measures have been taken to hand over the body to the close relatives of the victim, the OC added.
