Three teenage motorcyclists killed in Tangail road crash

TANGAIL, May 24, 2026 (BSS) - Three teenage motorcyclists were killed in a head-on collision between a motorcycle and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Basail upazila of the district this morning.

The accident took place around 11:00 am in front of Bangra Kali Mandir in Kashil union of the upazila.

The deceased were identified as Takbir Mia, 15, son of expatriate Rafiq Mia of Bangra village, Md. Limon, 14, son of Shawkat Ali and Md. Saymon, 14, son of Solaiman, all residents of the same village.

According to police and local sources, the three friends were travelling toward Basail upazila Sadar on a motorcycle when it collided head-on with a CNG-powered auto-rickshaw in the Bangra Kali Mandir area.

Takbir Mia died on the spot, while Limon and Saymon sustained critical injuries. They were first taken to Tangail General Hospital where Limon later succumbed to his injuries. Saymon died while being taken to Dhaka for advanced treatment.

Basail Police Station Officer-in-Charge Alamgir Kabir confirmed the incident, saying that all three motorcycle riders lost their lives in the collision.

He added that the bodies would be handed over to their families after the completion of legal procedures.
