KHULNA, May 24, 2026 (BSS) - Khulna City Corporation (KCC) has designated 140 spots across its 31 wards for slaughtering sacrificial animals during the holy Eid-ul-Azha and urged city residents to use the specified locations.

KCC officials said the list of the designated spots had already been sent to the Local Government Division last week in line with government directives.

Talking to BSS today, KCC Chief Conservancy Officer Md Anisur Rahman said 62 vehicles would be deployed to remove sacrificial animal waste before 10 pm on Eid day.

He said additional vehicles would remain on standby on city roads until 10 pm, if necessary, to ensure complete cleaning operations.

At least 16 KCC cleaning units will work across different wards to remove animal waste and maintain cleanliness, he added.

The KCC will also supply around 4,500 kilograms of bleaching powder and nearly 400 litres of Savlon for disinfection and cleaning purposes.

"A public awareness campaign will begin three days before Eid-ul-Azha to encourage residents to slaughter sacrificial animals at the designated spots," he said.

According to KCC officials, each slaughtering point will have butchers, cleaning workers and an imam to assist in the proper conduct of the sacrificial rituals.

Anisur Rahman expressed hope that city dwellers would cooperate by using the 140 designated locations for slaughtering animals.

KCC workers will continue cleaning activities for two days after Eid to ensure an environment-friendly atmosphere across the city.

KCC Veterinary Surgeon Dr Peru Gopal told BSS that slaughtering and cleaning materials would be supplied to the designated spots while awareness campaigns would continue until Eid night.

He said Tk 5,000 had been allocated to the secretary of each KCC ward for cleaning activities. Besides, the city corporation will distribute 10,000 environment-friendly bags among residents to facilitate proper disposal of sacrificial animal waste.
