Khulna BNP announces 6-day programme marking Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman’s martyrdom anniversary

KHULNA, May 23, 2026 (BSS) – Khulna district unit of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has taken a six-day programme to observe the 45th martyrdom anniversary of BNP founder Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman with due respect and solemnity.

The programmes were announced at a joint preparatory meeting of district BNP and its associate bodies held at the party office on K.D. Ghosh Road in the city today.

Khulna district BNP convener Md Moniruzzaman Montu presided over the meeting while acting member secretary and district council administrator SM Monirul Hasan Bappi conducted it.

BNP leaders at the meeting called upon party leaders and activists from all upazilas, municipalities, unions and ward levels of the district to observe the programmes in a united and disciplined manner and highlight the heroic role and patriotism of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman before the people.

As part of the programmes, black badges will be worn by leaders, activists and supporters of all units of Khulna district BNP on May 30, while black flags will be hoisted and party flags kept at half-mast at party offices.

Discussion meetings and doa mahfils will also be arranged at all units across the district.

A joint doa mahfil and discussion meeting with Khulna metropolitan BNP will be held at the party office at 11 am. The upazila-level programmes will continue until June 3.

The programmes also include distribution of quality food among low-income and underprivileged people, vagrants, helpless and destitute persons and orphanages. Special prayers will be offered at mosques, temples, churches and pagodas according to respective religious customs.

Besides, district Jubo Dal, Swecchasebak Dal and Chhatra Dal will organise tree plantation and blood donation programmes as well as a book exhibition with the support of district BNP.

Local MPs and senior district BNP leaders will attend the programmes at upazila and municipality levels as guests.
