KHULNA, Apr 26, 2026 (BSS) - Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Administrator Nazrul Islam Manju has urged officials to quickly address gaps in the ongoing Measles-Rubella Vaccination Campaign to ensure targets are met on time.
Speaking at an advocacy meeting on Sunday at the City Health Building, Manju called for immediate inspection of vaccination centres and timely support where needed. He emphasized stronger coordination among all stakeholders and increased public awareness efforts to boost campaign coverage.
The campaign, run under the Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, will continue until May 20, 2026. In its initial phase, vaccines are being administered at permanent and temporary EPI centres across the city. In the later phase, vaccination will extend to educational institutions.
The initiative aims to vaccinate 93,788 children aged between 6 months and under 5 years with a single dose of the measles vaccine.
To streamline operations, Khulna's 31 wards have been divided into four zones. A total of 82 teams-comprising 144 vaccinators and 206 volunteers, supervised by 62 officers are working across 256 vaccination centres and 356 educational institutions.
The meeting was chaired by KCC Chief Executive Officer Rajib Ahmed and attended by senior health officials, representatives from UNICEF and the World Health Organization, and local education and administrative authorities.
