BAGERHAT, April 21, 2026 (BSS) - The Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations began in Bagerhat, as in other parts of the country.
A total of 18,010 candidates are appearing in the examinations at 52 centres in nine upazilas of the district.
Of them, 12,054 are under the General Education Boards, 1,526 under the Madrasa Education Board and 4,421 under the Technical Education Board.
Strict security measures have been taken at each centre to ensure a fair and cheating-free examination environment. Executive magistrates, law enforcement agencies and concerned education officials are performing their duties at respective centres.
Meanwhile, district unit of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal assisted in traffic management around examination centres and helped candidates reach their centres on time. They also arranged temporary seating facilities and drinking water for guardians and examinees.
District Chhatra Dal leader Sheikh Al Mamun said they were helping in traffic management so that candidates do not face any difficulties. "If any student falls ill or has trouble finding a centre, we are providing immediate assistance through volunteers," he said.
He also said arrangements had been made for guardians to sit near examination centres. Free drinking water and saline are also being provided to prevent heat-related illness.
SSC examinee Munshi Sheikh said, "I had mistakenly gone to another centre and had very little time left. Later, Chhatra Dal members took me to the centre on a motorcycle. I hope such assistance continues."
Another examinee, Deepa Das, said, "Chhatra Dal arranged drinking water for us in this intense heat. Our parents also arranged a tent for us. We feel very happy to receive such support."
Guardian Md Abdul Karim said, "Earlier it was difficult to stand in the heat. Now, with seating and drinking water, it feels much more comfortable."
A guardian waiting outside an examination centre said, "I appreciate this initiative by Chhatra Dal. The seating and water facilities have brought much relief."
Officials said that due to strict monitoring by the administration and cooperation from voluntary organisations, the SSC and equivalent examinations are being held peacefully in the district.
