RAJSHAHI, April 12, 2026 (BSS) - To curb customer harassment, reduce long queues and prevent the illegal hoarding of fuel oil, distribution has begun through the 'Fuel Management' mobile app in Rajshahi.
Rajshahi Deputy Commissioner Kazi Shahidul Islam formally inaugurated the initiative at Gul Gafur Filling Station in Kumarpara today.
According to district administration officials, the system introduces a rationing mechanism for fuel sales.
Under the new arrangement, motorcycle riders will be allowed to purchase fuel worth up to Tk 500 once every five days, while private car and microbus owners can buy fuel worth up to Tk 2,000 within the same period.
Fuel will be dispensed through the app by scanning vehicle registration numbers at filling stations. Customers will not need to complete any separate registration to use the service.
Speaking at the event, the deputy commissioner said the initiative aims to ensure smooth access to fuel without long waiting times and to prevent stockpiling.
He said once a customer purchases fuel, they will not be eligible to receive fuel again before five days, adding that the system will automatically detect any attempt to collect fuel earlier than the permitted timeframe.
He urged customers to comply with the new regulations for the system to function effectively.
The administration also confirmed that special provisions have been made for farmers. Diesel for agricultural use will be distributed through designated cards to ensure uninterrupted farming activities alongside maintaining accountability in fuel management.
General customers welcomed the move, describing it as a timely initiative that would help reduce congestion at filling stations and address irregularities in fuel distribution.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Sabur Ali and Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate Borhan Uddin, among others, were present at the inauguration ceremony.
