KHULNA, April 5, 2026 (BSS) - The district administration in Khulna has fined two business establishments for selling liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) at prices higher than the government rate.
According to official sources, a mobile court conducted a drive on Saturday in different areas of Khulna Sadar targeting LPG retailers.
The drive was led by Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate Dipen Sadhak Rony, with support from Assistant Director of the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection Md. Walid Bin Habib.
During the drive, the mobile court found that a shop named Messrs Asad Store, located at the Commerce College intersection, was selling LPG cylinders at prices exceeding the government-fixed rate. Upon questioning, the owner admitted to the offence.
The organisation was fined Tk 10,000 under Section 40 of the Consumer Rights Protection Act, 2009.
In a separate case, another business entity, Messrs Anam Enterprise, was also fined Tk 10,000 under Section 38 of the same law for similar violations.
Officials said such enforcement drives will continue in the greater public interest to ensure fair pricing and protect consumers from irregularities in essential commodity markets.
