KHULNA, Mar 3, 2026 (BSS) - A mobile court on Tuesday fined two business
establishments Taka 60,000 during a special drive conducted ahead of the holy
Eid-ul-Fitr to ensure quality products for consumers.
The drives was carried out in the city under the joint initiative of the
Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) Khulna Divisional Office
and the Khulna District Administration.
Executive Magistrate of Khulna District Administration Md Asaduzzaman Arif
said the mobile court fined Day-Seven Unique Super Shop at Khulna New Market
Taka 50,000 for selling and distributing products including toilet soap,
shampoo, face wash, nail polish and lipstick using the BSTI quality mark
illegally on labels and packages without obtaining clearance from BSTI.
In a separate drive, Nurjahan Food Products at Joragate in Khalishpur was
fined Taka 10,000 for producing and selling lachcha semai in an unhygienic
environment without obtaining BSTI's CM license and for providing false
information on product labels.
The fines were realised on the spot, the magistrate added.
Officials of BSTI Khulna Divisional Office, including Md Monir Hossain,
Assistant Director (CM) Engr Md Mahmudul Hasan Rana, Field Officer (CM) Md
Ali Hasan and Inspector (Metrology) Md Bayezid Bostami, were present during
the drive.
Field Officer (CM) Md Tarikul Islam Sumon acted as prosecutor in the mobile
court.
