COX'S BAZAR, Feb 24, 2026 (BSS) - A sixth-grade student was killed in a tragic road accident after falling from a battery-run auto-rickshaw and being run over by a truck in Chakaria upazila of the district this morning.

The deceased was identified as Naushad Sharif Noor, 12, son of Mohammad Yusuf, an expatriate living in Khandaker Para area under Chakaria Municipality. He was a student of Chakaria Grammar School.

The accident occurred around 7:15 am in Batakhali area on the Chiringa-Badarkhali road in Chakaria.

According to local sources, Naushad was traveling on a battery-run auto-rickshaw, locally known as an easy bike, when he suddenly fell onto the road. At that moment, a truck coming from the opposite direction ran over him, killing him on the spot. The truck fled the scene immediately after the incident.

Locals rescued the critically injured student and rushed him to a nearby hospital, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.

Officer-in-Charge of Chakaria Police Station Mohammad Monir Hossain confirmed the incident, saying the accident took place near the police station. Police recovered the body and handed it over to the family.
